I got this idea about both painters in the exhibitions in Karmøy 2014. Exhibition was organized by Lions Club Karmsund.

Somewhere

Gallery Daugava

The works of three artists recent, graduates of Art Academy of Latvia - Madara Neikena (1988),  Edgars Soprans (1988) and Dagne Ventina (1986).

" "Somewhere" is ambiguous - places and things, real and imagined, can create different associations based on the individual experience leading the viewer into a surprising  insight."

Dagne Ventina, Scarf/Skjerf, oil on plywood/oil on finer, 2015, 40x40

Dagne Ventina.
" Everyday themes and rituals whose value and delicacy is highlighted by isolating them from their usual surroundings are observed by D.Ventina."

Madara Neikena. Home, oil on canvas/olje på lerret, 2015 , 120x180
" Madara Neikena catches the seamingly uncatchable in her painting - the mood, the smell, the sound of each individual element. The presence of nature has a significant  role in her work. The meditative temper and minimalistic approach of her creative work allows  the viewer to reflect on their own feelings."

In Kurzeme - L. Purmale

At the Gallery Daugava
"Purmale and Polis are names  that magnetically attract the term "Photo Realism" in surveys of Latvian art, although both artists have often energetically opposed it. Their connection with the quite peripheral trend in the global art history poses many riddles but nevertheles fascinates. It is possible that several principles crucial for Purmale`s art can be elucidated, projecting general principles of Photo Realism against the field of artist`s individual practice. [...]

I like distance, that steamed-up window in-between, that prevents Liga Purmale`s paintings from spreading smells and sounds. Painting is painting, there is nothing to prick up ears and nose about. The world is made up by what is visible. The painting`s world."

Rudolfs Pinnis - 109

From 14th October to 19th November in Mukusalas makslas salon you can attend an exhibition "Rudolfs Pinnis -109". It is an opportunity to see the works from Mukusalas makslas salons and Rudolf Pinnis family's collection. Exposition offers opportunity to trace how the artist has approached the traditions of French school of painting, approximates and moves away from reality. Through the time, starting with 1930 and ending with last works done in the end of life Rudolf Pinnis kept expressive color expression as constant value strength and influence of which has no remoteness.

Yesterday was very windy and cold day, but I wanted a lot to attend this exhibition. Bright colors and fantastic feelings in the wood in summer or expressive colors in the meadows. It was so nice in autumn time.
