Robert Cerins is a Canadian artist currently living in Victoria, B.C. Robert's work is imaginative and experimental in technique and execution. Throughout his extensive career he has developed a sensivity to light and texture. Rejecting the traditional us of watercolour to illustrate conventional appearances, he instead relies on his unconscious to create his watercolor paintings. Robert's paintings build stroke over stroke, harmonious color upon color, until shapes start to take form creating a unique, multidimensional completeness. His fauve-like style is achieved by an orchestration of intense color which create unique still-life's that hardly seem still.
