The exhibition consists of the art of the last two decades in the LNMA collection. The exhibition wishes to show and age, the time of the renewed, independent Latvia.
The period between 1990 and 2010 is also a whole age in European and world history. It has given rise to various epithets - "after the wall", "post-Soviet". Looking back on this, it seems worthwhile to look for evidence of this time of changes and cataclysms in art too but it is more typical for the Latvian and therefore the Latvian artist to live by his Amber Sea and withdraw into himself come what way. Thus the title of the exhibition from well-known Latvian Schlager song also contains irony of the existential fatalism of the geographical location being sung about that manifests itself in a mental measurement such as the character of the nation.
